Fishing trips to lakes and rivers can be arranged, depending on the type of fishing you want. Deepwater fishing doesn’t always mean going far off-shore, you may get a catch from a boat as you navigate through deep waters a mile offshore. It could also mean you’ll end up fishing anywhere from shallow weedy bays to rocky shoals. Around Hall’s Cottages you can also access sheltered bays and channel fishing, with one of our motorized boat or kayak rentals available by day, week or weekend, so you can even go island fishing.
Pick your Catch!
The fishing season for Walleye, Northern Pike, Smallmouth and Largemouth Bass and Lake Trout begins on the third Saturday in May. In the summer, find gar in shallow warm water in heavy weed-covered areas or spawning on rocks. Muskie fishing opens the 3rd Saturday in June and our fishing season for all species ends in early October. Sturgeon fishing is catch and release only here in Ontario. Of course, we won’t forget to mention our outstanding salmon selection our rivers. Lastly, crappies will seek deeper water and scatter throughout the lake.

Lake trout from the deep waters of Northern Ontario, so you can expect a rich, full-bodied flavor grilling or smoking. Whitefish has a mild flavor with firm meat, but they are one of the most wholesome freshwater species. With its juicy and delicately sweet flavor profile, walleye is considered by many to be the tastiest freshwater fish out there.
